Transportation To and From the Ranch: The Ranch is located
10 miles east of Tierra Amarilla, NM on Highway 64 and stretches
another 5 miles up the mountain. Highway 64 is deservedly designated
as a scenic highway. We are north of Albuquerque 160 miles (3 hours
driving time) and 110 miles north of Santa Fe. We suggest if you
are flying, you fly into the Albuquerque Airport. It’s a very
user-friendly airport and is serviced by most major airlines.
•
Lodging-Hunting Cabin: You will be staying and hunting
on the Ranch. No long drives early in the morning – out the
door and the hunt begins. The elevation of the Hunting Cabin is
approximately 9,800 feet. You will be staying at the cabin 6 nights;
the night before the hunt starts, through and including the night
after the hunt is over. It’s a two-room cabin with a large
covered front porch plus a shower area and outhouse. The main room
houses the kitchen, dining area and sleeping quarters for the two
guides and cook. The other room - the bunkroom - houses the sleeping
area for the four hunters. We have modernized the cabin to the point
where it has running water (even hot water for showers) and propane
gas for lighting and cooking. The cabin is heated via a wood stove.
We think you will find it rustic, but functional and cozy.
•
Meals: The cook will be serving 6 dinners, 6 breakfasts
and 5 lunches. All meals are hearty with a New Mexican flair. We
are very flexible, so if you have special requests or diet, we should
be able to accommodate you. You will not be disappointed!
•
Releases: For liability purposes, we require all hunters
to sign a release. This is common practice in New Mexico.
•
Guest Profile: We will also be asking you to fill out a
Guest Profile prior to your arrival at the Ranch. By knowing your
preferences, likes and dislikes, we will have a better opportunity
to make your stay at the Ranch a pleasant experience. The Ranch
does have a No Smoking Policy while in any of our facilities. To
accommodate those that do smoke, you are welcome to do so outside.
During your stay, we allow moderate alcoholic consumption as long
as, in the opinion of the guides, it does not compromise anyone’s
safety.
•
Other: We have a radio system that covers the Ranch. This
allows the guides to communicate with the Ranch Headquarters at
all times just in case there is an emergency or someone from home
needs to speak with you.
•
Wildlife: The Ranch has Mule Deer, Black Bear, Mountain
Lion, Turkey and many other species. We normally do not allow hunting
on the Ranch other than a limited number of Elk. By request, we
have accommodated hunters to hunt other game. Contact the Ranch
Manager for specifics.
